Pubudu Silva is a PHD candidate in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, at Northwestern University, IL USA. He is currently conducting research in signal processing under his advisor Prof. Thrasyvoulos N. Pappas.

Pubudu is an alumnus of University of Moratuwa, Colombo, Sri Lanka, where he earned his B.Sc(Eng)Hons degree in Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering, with a first class honors in 2006. He also holds a Higher Diploma in Information Technology from University of Colombo, Colombo, Sri Lanka since 2005. He joined Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd in 2006 and served in Colombo in capacities of Core Network Engineer and Team Leader, in several telecommunications projects. Pubudu left Huawei in August 2008 to pursue higher studies at Northwestern. He received his M.S. in EECS from Northwestern University in December 2010 by defending the thesis titled "Perceiving graphical and pictorial information via touch and hearing".

Pubudu's major research involvements are in Sensory Substitution, Multi-modal Texture Perception and Subjective Image Concepts. He is also conducting research on Texture Analysis/Synthesis, Auditory and Visual Perception and Inter-modal Sensory Perception. His research interests are Image and Video Processing, Psycho-acoustics, Tactile Perception, Multi-modal Signal Processing and Human Perception.
