Bio sketch

I was born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia. In October 2001, I started my undergraduate studies at the School of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade.

After graduation in June 2006 (5-year curriculum), in September 2006 I moved from Belgrade to Chicago and joined the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at Northwestern University.

In December 2008 I received my M.S. degree. The title of my thesis is “Structure Similarity Metrics for Texture Analysis and Retrieval.” The research for my Ph.D. thesis was a continuation of this work, and in June 2011 I defended my doctoral dissertation titled “Perceptual Texture Similarity Metrics.”

In addition to the academic research environment, for two consecutive summers, in 2008 and 2009, I was employed at DOCOMO USA Labs as an intern. I worked on pattern matching problems with Dr. Onur Guleryuz.
